Okay, so what the hell is it with people who can just bold faced lie about things to achieve their own end (be it ego, cash or otherwise)?
There is a certain part of the industry that I work in that has a distinct sleazy underbelly and the craziest part of it is that the worst offenders see themselves as some sort of mover or shaker (whatever the hell that means) or industry guiding light. Thing is though, they make money...lots of it...and they lie their butts off to achieve it. They will tell you one thing straight to your face and then turn around and completely shaft you. When confronted they plead ignorance, or worse, ignorance on your part in that you "just don't understand" or "just don't have the contacts"...or as one said to me today "you've just got to be in it to make it happen". This is of course crap, utter crap as all of us have the contacts...unfortunately those same contacts are just as big on the lying front! Bottom line, you actually just have to be prepared to lie, and often...to cheat, and often...to manipulate, and often. Then, when your day is done, go home to your expensive house and your expensive wife, and sleep like a baby.
I just can't do it...so I'll never succeed in this area, depending on your version of successs that is. Many will say I already have succeeded by not wading in. I just have to convince myself of this...and not to be filled with such anguish when I have to deal with these people, knowing I am likely to be shafted (again). I hate losing...hence this post...but can't bring myself to win by using their methods.
I'll get there, and before you say it; I will... Welcome to the real world!
I really hate some of the wanky bits of the real world.
